Loft Insulation
New build homes, commercial buildings and domestic dwellings: Loft Insulation is a requirement for all new buildings and homes, as well being a retrofit improvement for existing buildings and homes. It helps reduce heat loss and benefits in saving energy costs and is the material barrier between the living space and the roof space, normally between truss cords or rafters. There are different types of loft insulation depending on warm or cold roof designs, which can be glassfibre quilt, rigid boards, multi foil blankets, blown fibre or cellulose fibre products, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Glassfibre roll materials are the most common in domestic dwellings new or existing and we install both Knauf and Superglass loft roll.
Timber Kit Wall Insulation
New build Timber Kit construction requires the insulating of the envelope of the timber kit with varying insulation materials. Typically installed between the timber stud frame, this can be either be a glassfibre or PIR board. In certain specifications, there can be a layer of glassfibre insulation between and an overlay of PIR board, which enhances the Thermal Conductivity and U Value of the wall. Using a glassfibre or mineral wool insulation within the timber kit wall, will typically provide better insulation performance than masonry walls of the same thickness.
Underfloor & Mid floor insulation
Retrofitting underfloor insulation where possible in timber joisted floor design, can help in reducing heat loss, cut out draughts and save in energy costs. Different products are available depending on the access to the area, but typically glassfibre roll materials give the best results compared to rigid board materials. Mid Floor insulation is similar to underfloor, however mid floor insulation also contributes to sound deafening between floors.
Internal Partition Insulation
Required in all types of builds for insulation & sound purposes and typically use glass or mineral fibre materials where the density of the products help to absorb sound and offer heat retention within the rooms.
Fire Curtain Barriers
Fire barriers for loft area fire compartmentation in larger buildings, such as nursing homes & sheltered housing complexes, creating fire compartmentation in the loft area. This helps to restrict the break out of fire in the loft area and the spreading of fire throughout an open space. We can install both the mineral fibre blankets with reinforced wire mesh, such of Rockwool FB or the cloth type blankets, such as TBA Firefly.
Blown Insulations
From blown glassfibre products to cellulose recycled paper products. These are usually specialised installations for varying specified works. We have carried out small, medium & large projects, ranging from individual new build dwelling, commercial buildings, nursing homes, sheltered housing & adapted living complexes, as well as new schools and college buildings. The products can be blown into structures that are larger timber frames or I joist designs, and offer an excellent fully filled panel following install, that gives benefits of insulation heat retention, sound reductions & fire classification for spread of flame.
